Green Auto Show

The trend in the auto industry is undoubtedly going green. And the Los Angeles Auto Show is not an exception as the event will become a haven for green vehicles to be unveiled and be praised. Environmentalists have been calling automakers to develop green vehicles and their answer to this call will be unveiled at the said event.

Sarah Connolly of Rainforest Action network said: "The automakers know how to put on a good show, but when the rubber hits the road, their only real commitment is to keeping the status quo. With extreme drought and wildfires in California, oil spills fouling the shores of San Francisco and the Black Sea, and oil prices approaching $100 a barrel, it is high time for the automakers to stop saying what they can¹t do and start giving American drivers the oil-free, zero-emissions vehicles we want and deserve."

Green cars will reduce the amount of petroleum fuel consumed by millions of vehicles on the roads of the United States today. Burning petroleum-based products gives off greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide. These gases are the ones being blamed for global warming. With more green vehicles replacing not-so-clean vehicles, we can expect a cleaner atmosphere in the future.

"Fuel-efficient cars are the seat belts of the 21st century necessary for our families' safety and the survival of our planet," said Nick Magel of Global Exchange. "If domestic automakers want to survive global competition and are serious about making environmental commitments, why not hire engineers to implement the innovative technologies we already have instead of lawyers to litigate against California's demand for clean cars?," he added.

The upcoming North American International Auto Show will also be showcasing green vehicle technologies which just shows how the auto industry is reacting towards the call for a greener environment.
